AJMI participates in the Qatar Schools Debating

AJMI – Doha

Al Jazeera Media Institute participated with an interactive TV studio in the 4th International Schools Arabic Debating Championship (ISADC) which was held from 7 to 11 April.

 

The Institute's participation in the event held at Qatar National Convention Center has gained remarkable interaction and reputation. "We have introduced the students to the various and specialized media courses we offer at the Institute and provide them with the information they need about these courses and the skills they shall attain," said Mohammed Al Shahwani, Head of Operations at the Institute.

 

He added that the studio presented the opportunity to practice dealing with the camera, break the barrier of fear and enhance the skills of dialogue with anchors; especially that the studio is a simulated model of the one at the Institute’s building.

The Anchor, Ahmed al-Malki expressed his delight in participating in such events, and highlighted the capabilities of students participating in this year's championship. He said: “My participation with the QatarDebate students added a lot to me. I met very self-assured young people who are eager and apt for success

 

The Institute also organized two workshops for debating students. The first focused on news monitoring and verification techniques, methods of distinguishing false images and counterfeit information on social media platforms. The second workshop focused on the experience “Maydan” youth website launched by Al-Jazeera a year ago to address the age group from 18 to 34 years. The participants also learned about Al Jazeera's Arabic learning website
