Brief on the interpretation course

Al Jazeera Media Institute - Doha

The audience interest in world news has broadened to a wide range of countries and cultures, and language is often an obstacle in their way to get the information from its original and reliable sources.
In order to remove this obstacle, comes the role of translation and interpretation, as an effective means of transmitting news, knowledge and science, also in learning about cultures, and building bridges of communication between nations.
Here, translation is of great importance, and mastering this art requires many skills, experiences and practice.
All these requirements are provided by the Al Jazeera Media Institute in the course titled "Introduction to Interpretation"
The Course that instructor Mowaffak Tawfiq says that it begins with the explanation of the concept of interpretation, and dispelling the confusion about this concept, before moving to defining the types of translation in general, and provide a brief summary of each type, then the course focuses on the following two types of translation types: Consecutive translation and simultaneous interpretation.
According to the trainee Dana Marwan, a Palestinian resident in Qatar, an introductory course on interpretation, organized by Al Jazeera Media Institute and presented by Mowaffak Tawfik, introduced her to the world of translation and made her realize that translation is not just a transfer of information from one language to another, or a culture to another, but is an essential means of communication between people.
Kamal Jlaid, a trainee from Morocco, said that trainees benefit from a course in interpretation on many levels, whether it is style, spelling, or vocabulary and terminology, which ensures that they reach a level that each experienced translator aspires to.
A course on interpretation was launched by the Al Jazeera Media Institute from December 02 to 10 December.
