Course Objective

• Cognitive objectives:
- Introduction to the nature of scientific journalism.
- Understanding the role of scientific journalism.
- Introducing participants to the differences between scientific journalism and other types of journalism.
- Understanding the various types of scientific journalism: medical, health, science, environment and technology.
• Course acquired skills:
- How scientific coverage is done.
- Teaching the participants different approaches on how to compose scientific news.
- Understanding how to handle scientific sources and classify them in terms of credibility.
• Behavioural skills:
- Ethics of Scientific Journalism.
- How to deal with correspondents/reporters.
- How to deal with victims and patients

• Medical Journalism:
- Diseases.
- Epidemics and their spread.
- Accidents (such as forgetting a glove or infection due to lack of sterilization).
- Medical conferences.
- Radiation.
- How not to fall into the trap of marketing a drug or product?

• Science:
o Scientific discoveries.
o Inventions... What is the difference between them?
• Technology:
o Technology News: hardware, computers, laptop, mobile, specifications, speed, price.
o Applications: Comparison in terms of price and capacity.
o Technology News.
• Biology:
- Endangered species.
- Discoveries in the animal world.
- Climate change.
