Sipho is the publisher and co-founder of The Continent, a weekly African newspaper distributed via WhatsApp and Signal. Blending the traditions of print journalism with 21st-century technology, The Continent reaches readers in all 54 African countries—and does so in a way that resists censorship.

His job is to make it a newsroom where people can do their best work for as long as possible, before climate change reshapes how the world functions.

An award-winning investigative environment reporter, Sipho has received more than a dozen honours for his journalism. He was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University before taking the helm of Mail & Guardian in South Africa. Five years ago, he helped launch The Continent, and later completed the executive programme in news innovation and leadership at City University of New York.

He also serves on the advisory board of the Oxford Climate Journalism Network at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.
