Course Description

Everything revolves around the story, and when we have the story, we are at the heart of the event. To make the story appropriate for making a documentary film, it must be processed. This means writing the theoretical scenario for the documentary film, which forms the initial plan to start implementing the film in reality, and converting theoretical ideas into a real story and images.

Course Objective

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
• Develop a suitable research plan to obtain information that supports the film's story and gains credibility.
• Acquire visual storytelling and visual language skills (thinking in a montage manner).
• Gain the skill of building a dramatic story structure and different story forms.
• Write the theoretical scenario for the documentary film.

• Theoretical Introduction:
- Definition of documentary film and its types.
- How to find the story and the angle of treatment.
- The difference between dramatic documentary and informative documentary (reportage, investigation).
- Dramatic structure and different storytelling techniques.
- The difference between the scenario of documentary and dramatic film.

• Concept of the theoretical scenario elements:
- Synopsis.
- Theme.
- Protagonists and locations.
- Personal motivation.
- Film form.
- Production.
- Stab list or Crew.

• Writing the theoretical scenario:
- Determine the story and angle of treatment.
- Research.
- Writing scenario elements.
- Present the project to the committee (Pitching).
