Prerequisites

• Practical experience with editing software such as Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, or similar professional editing programs.
• Completion of one of the following courses is preferred: Basics of Premiere Pro / Basics of Final Cut Pro / Basics of DaVinci Resolve or basic familiarity with the tools and tasks of any of these programs.

Course Description

The Basics of Media Composer course is the first step in building confidence, creativity, and proficiency with Avid Media Composer, a non-linear film and video editing application widely used in film and television productions. In this course, participants will develop their understanding of the video editing process and the fundamental skills needed to edit a video project from start to finish.

Course Objective

By the end of this course, participants will:
• Explore the interface and settings of Avid Media Composer.
• Apply the editing process to clips effectively.
• Enhance and edit clips professionally in Avid Media Composer.
• Perform the final correction for projects and improve video quality.

Course Outline

• Getting to know Avid Media Composer:
- Create a new project in HD and 4K formats.
- Getting to know the program interface.
- Insert media files into the project.
- Customize and understand settings.

• Basic editing process:
- Create a new montage sequence and add tracks as needed.
- Watch the clips and select the appropriate parts from them.
- Add clips to the montage sequence.
- Learn about smart tools for making montages and editing clips.

• Improve and edit clips:
- Remove and delete unwanted clips.
- Adjust the volume.
- Add transition effects between clips.
- Add basic visual and audio effects.

• Final correction and export project:
- Remove green or blue backgrounds professionally.
- Color correction foundations.
- Use automatic color correction to improve the appearance of your video.
- Export your finished project as a high-quality file or for uploading to the web.
