Course Description

Infographic is the art of transforming complex data into clear, engaging visual messages that make information easier to understand, faster to absorb, and more impactful for the audience. From data maps to charts and infographics, this field enables ideas to be communicated creatively, turning numbers and text into visual stories that add cognitive and communicative value to media, educational, and marketing content.

Course Objective

By the end of this course, participants will:

• Apply visual design principles to create clear, balanced, and effective information designs.
• Understand the different stages of the visual information design process, from concept to publication.
• Develop skills in designing simplified visual elements that support storytelling and content clarity.

• Introduction to visual information design:
- Definition and importance of visual information design.
- The role of visual storytelling in simplifying data.
- Types of visual design: static, interactive, animated, and video-based.

• Core principles of visual design:
- The impact of color in guiding attention and highlighting information.
- Select appropriate typography based on content type.
- Visual balance and effective use of white space.

• Stages of the visual information design process:
- Define the story and build the visual narrative.
- Contemporary trends in visual storytelling.
- Techniques for data collection, filtering, and analysis.
- Data verification and review before, during, and after the design process, prior to publication.

• Designing information:
- Create infographics using Canva and Adobe Illustrator.
- Use timelines and maps and present them visually.
- Basics of infographic animation using Adobe After Effects.
- Export and publish static and animated designs across different platforms.
