• A university degree in journalism or media.
• At least one year of practical experience in journalism for applicants from non-media backgrounds.

Course Description

In a fast-paced and highly competitive media environment where expectations continue to rise, the role of the TV correspondent is no longer limited to reporting events. Instead, the correspondent has become a key actor in shaping the news story and crafting the audience’s visual experience.

Course Objective

By the end of this course, participants will:
• Understand the characteristics of TV journalism and its professional principles.
• Apply effective methodologies for producing field-based television reports.
• Utilize visual language in constructing news narratives.
• Develop on-camera performance and presentation skills.
• Manage challenges and unexpected situations during field reporting.

• Fundamentals of TV journalism:
- Characteristics and professional standards of television journalism.
- TV news treatment formats.
- Field reporting ethics.
- TV news production.
- The correspondent’s role within the news team (cameraperson – editor – newsroom).

• TV report production:
- Methodology of field TV report preparation.
- Idea selection and angle development.
- Information gathering and organization.
- Conduct interviews for TV reports (techniques and approaches).
- Build the news report.

• Visual language and writing for the screen:
- Principles of visual composition in television reporting.
- Writing to pictures and managing visual storytelling.
- The relationship between script and visuals.
- The importance of natural sound in reports.
- Aesthetic foundations of editing.

• On-camera performance skills:
- Delivery and presentation skills in front of the camera.
- Live TV reporting.
- Walk-and-talk reporting techniques and on-camera movement.
- Manage body language and visual presence.
- Build credibility and confidence on screen.

• Managing challenges and emergencies:
- Work under pressure and live broadcast conditions.
- Common technical and field-related challenges.
- Decision-making in dynamic environments.
- Handle breaking news.
