Prerequisites

• University degree in journalism.
• A one-year journalism experience for non-media graduates.

Course Description

Wherever people celebrate their joys and share their sorrows, and wherever there are important events or raging conflicts, there is the reporter. They are the eye with which we see these events and the ear with which we hear about them.
They are the individuals who overcome obstacles and sometimes defy danger to bring us the truth. In fact, TV reporting is one of the most physically taxing television jobs, but certainly one of the most exciting and interesting ones.
This course is designed to arm participants with the necessary professional tools of journalism, whether written or visual, so they can convey the truth to the public with honesty and objectivity.

Course Objective

By the end of this course, participants will:
• Discuss the nature of television journalism.
• Explore the steps in field reporting preparation.
• Define visual language concepts and their relationship with text.
• Develop television news skills to deliver effective messages.

• Introduction to TV work fundamentals:
- Principles and characteristics of journalism and its ethics.
- Templates for television news processing.
- Journalist's relationship with the production team; camera operator and editor.
- TV news production.

• Mechanisms of TV report preparation:
- Methodology for preparing field TV reports.
- Conduct interviews for television reports (form and content).

• Creative and technical skills:
- Basic principles and techniques of filming and editing.
- Aesthetic concept of editing and visual composition.
- Importance of natural sounds in the TV report.
- Writing for picture.

• Parallel TV news skills:
- Presentation skills and standing in front of the camera.
- Correspondent's live TV message.
- Walk and Talk.
- Emergency Issues and how to deal with them.
