Course Description
Just as perfumes, colors and shapes evoke specific feelings and sensations, so are sounds and melodies mixed in a specific creative design that serve certain dramatic goals in the film to evoke specific feelings and emotions in us. This course is designed to teach the basics of sound engineering and design, as well as the theoretical background of microphone technology and its use. Additionally, it covers the flow of audio signal in the studio, detects sound in places, workstations and mixing sound via the audio mixer.
Course Objective
By the end of this course, participants will:
• Use of various audio recording techniques.
• Distinguish between digital and analog audio technology.
• Apply basic rules of sound mixing and editing and the ability to work in the sound studio.
• Define how the audio signal flows in the studio and during broadcasting.

• Theoretical and technical introduction to sound theory:
- Basics of sound and recording techniques.
- Definition of sound and its types.
- Basics of sound diagnosis in places and how to perceive it.
- Different sound elements in the film.
• Introduction to digital audio technology and analog:
- Cables and connectors.
- Digital connections and analogs.
- External equipment.
• Working in the digital sound units:
- Introduction to Avid Pro software, tools and functions.
- Basics of mixing and editing with DAWs.
- Basics of automation.
- Basics of mixing and adjustment.
• Use of audio mixing keys:
- Routing basics.
- Digital and analog systems.
• Studio technology:
- Fundamentals of sound measurements.
- Audio formats and metadata.
- TV broadcasting technology.
- Audio streaming in the studio.
