4 grants for journalists to attend Investigative Journalism Global Forum

Al Jazeera Media Institute, in cooperation with the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), announces the opening of applications for four fully paid scholarships, dedicated to journalists from Arab countries or Arabic language speakers, to participate in the Global Investigative Forum for Journalism GIJC25, planned to be held in Kuala Lumpur next November.
The fellowship targets full-time journalists in various media sectors, including print and digital journalism, television, video, radio, documentaries and multimedia, as well as freelance journalists.
Applicants must be specialist in investigative journalism or data journalism, and have done an investigative work/report within the last six months and must have good command of English language for effective communication in order to attend and participate in forum's activities.
Journalists selected to attend this forum are committed to write three articles for Al-Sahafa magazine on the main themes of the forum, in addition to presenting two illustrated summaries about sessions of the forum in order to be published on the official website of the magazine. Those who have not been previously accepted for “GIJN Fellowship” are eligible to apply again for this opportunity.
The scholarship includes full coverage of round-trip travel to Kuala Lumpur, four-night hotel accommodation, transportation from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to the accommodation, attending the reception, breakfast and lunch during conference days are paid off in hotel reservation, as well as registration fees. The fellowship does not provide any daily allowance or cover visa fees or airport transportation expenses in applicants’ countries. But it provides an opportunity for some applicants to apply for partial scholarships as needed.
The organizing committee has set August 5, 2025 as the deadline for receiving applications. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed online after pre-screening phase, then the final results will be announced on August 20, 2025 via email.
This program comes as a result of Al Jazeera Media Institute endeavors and in partnership with the Global Network for Investigative Journalism in the framework of promoting professional exchange and supporting presence of Arab investigative journalism on international stage.
