AJMI‘s The Sports Journalism Guidebook in five languages

Al Jazeera Media Institute (AJMI) on Tuesday, October 25, in the presence of a number of sports journalists and the director of the beIN Sport newsroom, launched its latest books, The Sports Journalism Guidebook, in conjunction with the preparations for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The manual, prepared by Younis al-Kharashi and edited by colleagues Mohammad Ahdad and Muhammad Khamaisa, is being issued after being translated from Arabic into several different languages including Spanish, English, French and Persian.
Eman Al Amri, Director of the Institute, welcomed the guests and said that the Institute is always keen to keep abreast of current events, the most important of which now is the holding of the World Cup in less than a month.
“This guidebook is part of an initiative the Institute started before the Qatar World Cup in 2022 to focus on sports journalism as a discipline. This initiative culminated in the organizing the Al Jazeera Forum for Sports Journalism and the publication of the guidebook in five languages to reach the broadest audience possible," Eman said. "This guide will be useful for journalists who will be covering the World Cup and its events, and it is a valuable addition to the world of sports journalism."
Introducing the guidebook, Mohamed Amor, Director of News at beIN Sports, highlighted the importance of producing a reference guide for journalists that "provides knowledge in a systematic way, allowing those wishing to enter the specialization to have all the skills associated with sports journalism."

Haider Abdul Haq, Head of Al Jazeera's Sports Section, spoke about the network's plans to stay up with Qatar's preparations for the 2022 World Cup by hiring foreign analysts and offering specialized coverage of the Arab World Cup.
The new guide is an attempt to develop the work of sports journalists and those wishing to start practicing this specialization.
It provides an explanation and simplification of what the work of a sports journalist is, and tips for covering major sports events based on the rules of the profession of journalism in general.
It takes into account the rules governing sports journalism and the professional and technical requirements required by coverage.
In addition to the guidance it provides, the guide contain testimonies and contributions from sports journalists who have presented their experiences in the field.
