The session featured insightful dialogues by esteemed global activists and influencers, shedding light on their pivotal roles in raising awareness regarding human rights violations amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Prominent participants in the session included the distinguished American writer and activist, Sean King, the accomplished Palestinian journalist, Zeina Aql, the versatile American content creator, Ahmed Hossam, and the influential Irish figure, Tag Hickey. Steering the discussion was the capable moderator, Jamal Al Shayal, serving as the Manager of Strategic Content in the Digital Division.
The discourse during the session honed in on the pivotal role played by social media platforms in spotlighting violations against Palestinians. The speakers underscored the paramount significance of these platforms in amplifying global awareness surrounding human rights issues, particularly in the wake of the recent conflict in Gaza.
Moreover, the participants delved into the intricate challenges posed by censorship, a phenomenon increasingly imposed by social media platform operators on content related to the Palestinian cause. They emphasized the substantial threat such censorship poses to the fundamental tenets of freedom of expression and the accessibility of Palestinian narratives to a worldwide audience.
The ensuing discussion between participants and the audience further explored pragmatic approaches for content creators and digital journalists. The emphasis was on continually illuminating human rights violations, particularly in Palestine, while concurrently sustaining the momentum in coverage to ensure the transmission of the authentic voice of suffering within Palestine to a global audience."
