AJMI launches On Site Field Media Diploma in mid-September

Al Jazeera Media Institute announces launching “On Site Field Media Diploma” at the Its headquarters in Doha from September 13th. to mid-October this year, under the supervision of a selected group of the Institute’s experts and trainers.
To join the diploma, an applicant must be a student of media or Mass Communication or holding a university degree, preferably in media or having previous experience in journalism or documentary film production.
The diploma focuses on providing intensive training programs that contribute to refining practical skills needed by the productive journalist based on blending reality and creativity in field media work. The program addresses different television production styles that are based on reality, such as field reporting, documentary programs, human story (Feature) and documentary film. In addition to highlighting basic differences between them and how to transform reality into innovative media works.
Diploma themes consist of four main stages, starting by "Reality and Creativity in Field Work", which introduces participants to main differences of production styles, visual composition concept, distinction between visual language and spoken language, writing to picture methods, creative writing and processing elements of reports, features and documentary films.
In "Pre-Production" phase, participants will learn about defining media message, research and writing treatments, in addition to coordination techniques, task distribution between work team and basics of conducting interviews in both realistic and creative journalistic works.
Production phase stage deals with developing photography plan, planning improvisation, identifying field photography methods and methods of dealing with reality and how to balance between realism and creativity, in addition to practical tips on planning photography daily schedule.
And finally, post-production stage, where trainees learn story building steps and processing image, sound, commentary, music and sound effects, as well as practicing modern editing techniques and image processing in order to enrich final media product quality.
The diploma targets media students, university graduates, journalists and employees of media institutions interested in developing their journalism skills.
At the end of the diploma, participants will receive a certificate from Al Jazeera Media Institute, and will be able to differentiate between different field formats and styles and acquire necessary skills in writing treatments, production and editing, which will enable them to produce professional media works that match with requirements of modern media institutions.
