AJMI Publishes Issue No. 40 of “AL-SAHAFA MAGAZINE”, Journalism Magazine which revolves around Feature/Human story production

AJMI - Doha

Al Jazeera Media Institute has released the 40th issue of Journalism Magazine, spotlighting human story/feature as part of its ongoing focus on this field through publishing a specialized guide and moreover allocating an award for the best feature/ human story.

In an Arab world plighted by crises, wars, and extreme climate repercussions, human story is once again taking center stage as a style that transcends logic of numbers and rigidity of traditional coverage, placing people back at the heart of the narrative.

Titled “Human storytelling… From news to meaning,” this issue seeks, according to the editorial board, to restore profession’s core values of accountability and watchdog journalism through field experiences of journalists who have worked on human-centered stories. The editorial board emphasizes that human storytelling is not merely about evoking sympathy or stirring emotions; rather, it requires compelling narrative techniques and rigorous fact-checking. It aims to shed light on angles often overlooked in conventional news coverage through close tracing of individual lives. It is essential that these stories reveal the social, economic, and political structures behind major events and transforming abstract issues into tangible, relatable experiences that create real impact.
