Al Jazeera Media Institute has issued a new book titled " Official Statements and Declarations Audit Guide", which seeks to provide a clear practical methodology for verifying information content of official statements and declarations for the benefit of journalists and for all people who are working in the field of information and fact verification.

The guide book consists of six chapters in addition to a case study from Tunisia, titled

"Devil Dwells in Numbers" and another case study about Israel war on the Gaza Strip and disinformation chaos of official statements issued by Israeli officials.

In addition to reviewing the most prominent forms of manipulation and misinformation in official statements and declarations the guide, which is issued in cooperation with "Tafned" platform, presents auditing methodologies and mechanisms for verifying such misinformation, with a list of the most prominent open sources that help journalists in this field. The guide also includes a discussion on ethics and professional codes of conduct in the field of follow-up and auditing of official statements and declarations, and proposes mechanisms for checking similar information and materials in newsrooms and how to integrate such information.

The guide is composed by Hossam El Wakeel, "Tafned" platform editor-in-chief for information auditing and data journalism, given that guide chapters were written by Mohamed Tolba from Egypt, Younes Miskin from Morocco, and Dr. Arwa El Kaali from Tunisia.
