Tashkent hosts “Al Jazeera Week” with 105 trainees taking part in five specialized training programs

Al Jazeera Media Institute, in cooperation with Uzbekistan’s National Television and Radio Company, has concluded “Al Jazeera Week,” held from 21 to 26 September, with 105 trainees taking part in five specialized training programs.
Iman Al Ameri, Director of Al Jazeera Media Institute, said that “Al Jazeera Week” in Tashkent embodied the essence of the Al Jazeera Ambassadors initiative by providing a practical platform to develop skills of media professionals and emerging talents, while building a network of professional relationships that supports knowledge exchange and opens new avenues for development. She added that, participation of more than 100 journalists, media professionals and young talents in five specialized programs underscores the importance of investing in media professionals capable of keeping pace with digital transformation. She noted that training impact becomes clearer when newly acquired knowledge and skills are put to use and enhancing content quality, generate fresh ideas and create broader professional opportunities.
Al Ameri explained that signing of a new agreement with partners in Uzbekistan marks an advanced stage in the path of joint cooperation, paving the way for further training and professional development opportunities. She expressed the commitment of the Institute to continuing this partnership and deepening its impact in the next phase.
Participating trainers noted that taking part in this program provided them with an opportunity to engage with media passionate generation who shared with them their accumulated practical expertise in an interactive environment. They emphasized that the focus was centered on equipping trainees with professional tools, strengthening their confidence in carrying out their responsibilities, and enabling them to create content that reflects realities around them.
The week featured intensive programs delivered by experts from Al Jazeera Media Institute and external specialists. As it covered content production with AJ+ producer Haifa Nuseibah, mobile journalism with media professional Nadim Al Mallah, AI-powered content production with Yahya Salim, Adobe Premiere Pro with trainer Vinod Sadanandan, in addition to television news bulletin production with Al Jazeera English’s Abubakr Kamal. The program brought together editorial skills and modern production tools, in order to train participants in developing stories and creating content using mobile phones, leveraging artificial intelligence and visual effects, as well as mastering various stages of television news bulletins preparation and production.
Program participants capped their training by completing practical graduation projects that reflected their progress throughout the training period and demonstrated their ability to turn the knowledge they had acquired into practical models of diverse media content.
“Al Jazeera Week” is part of Al Jazeera Media Institute’s training programs. It has previously been held in several countries, including Türkiye, Malaysia and others, further extending the reach of the Institute’s training expertise across a broader range of media organizations and professional environments.
