AJMI - Doha
Al Jazeera Media Institute’s e-learning platform continues its journey with “Open- Source Investigations” diploma and launches its fifth course.
The course is delivered by Dr. Arwa Al-Kaabi and carries the title “Stories behind numbers: Investigation using Databases”. It equips participants with skills to work with open databases and craft data-driven investigative narratives to enhance their ability to produce in-depth digital investigations.
Over a two-week course, trainees will explore methods for tracing data threads and learn how to transform raw numbers into evidence that uncovers storylines and supports investigative hypotheses. The course also examines how artificial intelligence can be leveraged in data cleaning, pattern detection and anomaly discovery.
Learning journey in this course includes a range of interactive activities, such as live training sessions via Zoom, discussion forums that foster critical thinking, and hands-on assignments in the form of mini capstone projects performed by trainees during the course.
It worth noting that, the diploma consists of seven courses, and the top-performing participant will receive a prize granting him a fellowship with Sanad, Aljazeera’s fact-checking agency.
The five-day, in-person, fellowship will provide the winner with the opportunity to experience the real working environment of the agency and to apply skills and tools he/she acquired throughout the diploma journey.
