Bio

Dr. Ghassan Abu Hussein is a media professional and academic with extensive experience across leading global media organizations and prestigious academic institutions, including Al Jazeera Network and CNN. He has covered major historic events and conducted interviews with world leaders and heads of state. Within the Al Jazeera Media Network, he contributed to several landmark initiatives, most notably proposing the “Al Jazeera Ambassadors” initiative, which has trained thousands of participants worldwide; founding the internal communications department that connected thousands of employees across 58 countries; and contributing to the digital transformation of Al Jazeera Documentary Channel. He also launched and supervised the “Al Jazeera Awards” project, aimed at submitting the network’s productions to international competitions, resulting in the channel winning more than 100 awards within a few years. In addition, he took part in a joint research project between Al Jazeera and the University of Cambridge, and has delivered training courses and lectures for diplomats and media students across the Arab world and Europe.

Experience

- He has held several editorial and managerial positions at Al Jazeera Media Network, including Editorial Assistant to the Executive Director of Al Jazeera Channels, Head of Programme Selection at Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, Manager of International Relations, Correspondent and Bureau Chief in South Africa and Bahrain, and Newsroom Producer – (2004 – Present). - Correspondent and Editor at CNN International – (2002 – 2004). - Editor-in-Chief of the Special Bulletin at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research – (1999 – 2002).
