Course Description

The concept of “Video Journalism” means the integration of several skills, such as journalism, filming, editing, sound recording etc. This would not have been possible without the amazing developments which took place in the nineties in the field of digital technology and which led to the alleviation of the TV production equipment in addition to the high quality and ease of use.

Course Objective

At the end of the course, participants should:
-• Acquire the artistic and technical skills in filming and in editing
-• Acquire the skills of sound recording and the ability to deal with all types of microphones.
-• Be able to produce a TV report starting from the idea to the screen individually and performing all the roles of the traditional production team
-• Acquire the skills of production quality monitoring,

-• Introduction to field journalism ( TV reporter )
- The TV reporter
-• Filming techniques:
- Fundamentals and principles of artistic TV filming
- Types, characteristics and capabilities of the used cameras and the ability to manage the settings
- Developing the skills of using the camera and filming individually and without the help of a third party
-• The visual composition:
- The TV story structure: introduction, details, conclusion
- Filming using the editing style and performing a full editing of a TV story without the help of an editor
- Importance of the natural light for the TV picture
- Understanding the visual language and its use in a story or a report
- The creative camera and the picture techniques
-• The art of interviewing and the sound recording skills:
- The skills of TV interviews and performing the important shots of the interview
- Sound recording and types of microphones
-• Editing and structure of storytelling
- fundamentals and skills of editing
- Using the appropriate editing software for post-production
- Production quality tuning skills
- Contingency and routine issues management skills
