Course Description
With the continuous evolution of photography and filmmaking, cinematography has become essential for visual and creative storytelling. This course is designed to explore the art of cinematography, where technique and creativity merge to create captivating scenes that convey powerful messages.
Throughout the course, participants will learn how to use cameras, lighting, and visual techniques to transform ideas into fully realized cinematic scenes while gaining insight into the essential tools needed to master this art.
Course Objective
By the end of this course, participants will:
• Explain the fundamentals of cinematography and the different types of cameras and lenses.
• Professionally adjust camera settings.
• Use composition and lighting to enhance the dramatic impact of scenes.
• Select appropriate angles and control the camera to improve visual engagement.
• Develop communication and teamwork skills between the cinematographer and the production team.
• Analyze the principles of pre-production planning for cinematography.

• Fundamentals of Cinematography:
- Introduction to Cinematography, its history, and the evolution of filming techniques.
- The difference between cinematography and photography.
- Types of cinematic cameras, lenses, and their uses.
• Basics of camera settings:
- Shutter speed, aperture, ISO.
- Sensor sizes, image resolution, frame rates.
- Filming in Full HD, 4K, and 8K.
• Visual composition and lighting in cinema:
- Visual composition (framing and angles) and its applications in Cinematography.
- Use lighting to create different visual atmospheres.
- Types of cinematic lighting: natural lighting, artificial lighting, and studio lighting.
- The impact of light and shadow in enhancing the drama within a scene.
• Camera movement and angles in Cinematography:
- Types of camera angles and their psychological and visual implications.
- Types of camera movements and their effects: crane, dolly, tracking, and pan.
- Camera stabilization techniques for smooth movement.
• Pre-production planning:
- Script reading and understanding visual needs.
- Location scouting.
• Team collaboration:
- The relationship between the cinematographer and the director.
- Work with the lighting and set design teams.
- Manage time and equipment on set.
- Adapt to challenges in shooting locations.
