Course Description

Cinematic color grading for video is one of the most creative tools in post-production. It enhances the visual appeal of footage, sets the visual mood, and highlights the artistic message of a project. Its importance lies in making content more impactful and professional across digital platforms and cinema screens. This course aims to familiarize participants with the fundamentals of cinematic color grading, introduce them to professional software, and apply modern techniques in color processing that align with the nature of visual storytelling.

• Work with projects coming from different software and apply color correction that ensures quality.

• Introduction to cinematic color grading:
- The concept of cinematic color grading and its role in video production.
- The relationship between lighting, cinematography, and color grading.
- The difference between Color Correction and Color Grading.
- The future of color-grading technologies with AI.

• Color grading software and tools:
- Introduction to DaVinci Resolve.
- Main interfaces and color tools.
- Importing files and setting up projects.

• Correcting colors for projects edited in other software:
- Importing an XML timeline.
- Synchronize reference video.
- Fix errors resulting from cross-software translation.
- Understand and handle dynamic range.

• Work with raw footage:
- Adjust RAW settings at the project and clip levels.
- Grading high dynamic-range RAW footage.

• Color grading techniques:
- Create color styles that reflect the visual identity of the film.
- Use LUTs (Look-Up Tables).
- Build cinematic mood through control of shadows and tones.
