Course Description
Television news presentation is a constant test of composure, accuracy, and contextual awareness. It combines journalistic integrity with the ability to communicate clearly under pressure. A news anchor does not merely read the news; they carry it with responsibility, present it with awareness, and control pace, voice, and on-screen presence during the most sensitive moments.
Course Objective
By the end of this course, participants will:
• Understand the nature of television news work and the role of the news presenter within the editorial and live broadcast ecosystem.
• Deliver news bulletins clearly, accurately, and with balance, in line with professional standards.
• Prepare and present television news content, including headlines, summaries, and news links.
• Manage on-air performance professionally during live broadcasts and handle pressure and unexpected errors.
• Effectively use voice, language, and body language to enhance credibility and on-screen presence.
Course Outline
• Introduction to TV news work:
- Characteristics and ethics of television news production.
- The role of the news presenter between content, performance, and responsibility.
- Professional relationship between the presenter and the editorial and technical teams.
- Use the autocue and earpiece.
• On-camera skills for news presenters:
- Accuracy of Arabic language usage and proper pronunciation.
- Voice delivery, vocal focus, and articulation.
- Effective use of body language that supports the news without distraction.
- Emotional control, concentration, and quick thinking during live broadcasts.
• News preparation and presentation:
- Write headlines, summaries, and news links.
- Present news bulletins and structure the flow of stories within a bulletin.
- Avoid repetition between the anchor script and recorded news packages.
- Fundamentals of conducting news interviews within bulletins.
• Advanced news performance techniques:
- Handle scripts, eye contact, and camera position changes.
- Maintain natural rhythm and proper breathing during presentation.
- Seamlessly hand over the speech to a co-anchor inside the studio.
- Professional improvisation and overcoming on-air mistakes during live broadcasts.
