“THE JOURNALISM REVIEW” EXAMINES WESTERN MEDIA'S COVERAGE OF GAZA’S WAR

Aljazeera Media Institute published issue No 32 of its “Al-Sahafa Magazine” under the title: "Western Press and Palestine... does the tool of the master deviates from his story?”. Articles of this issue focused on Western press coverage for the war on Gaza, in a number of headlines and topics. The starting article was " Palestine narrative in Western media and deleted Agenda" by Shahira Abdullah, while Abeer Al-Najjar wrote about "The resounding professional fall of the Western Press in covering appalling genocide in Palestine.

In a critique of news content of the Western press, which embraced a strategy that vindicates Israeli occupation of any condemnation, Ahmed Nazif wrote an article under the title “The Impossible Condemnation of the Occupation”: criticizing what is called "victim blaming journalism", while journalist Somaya Yaqoubi decided to draw attention to war diaries published by content creators and new generation of journalists who raised questions such as: "Does daily storytelling represents an alternative narrative of Palestinian suffering?. From legal perspective the importance of documenting international crimes in armed conflicts, researcher Nasser Thabet wrote: "Understanding effectiveness: journalists and documenting international crimes."
Journalist Abeer Ayoub raised the issue of the ethical repercussions of the military-embodied journalism and the extent to which journalists are affected by military propaganda, in an article titled: "Army-attached Press and war Coverage, a Critical Review."
 
Since the start of war on Gaza, monitors and checkers of information have faced challenges of occupation army propaganda that came in multiple patterns and templates, this topic was addressed by journalist Hossam Al-Wakeel in an article titled: "Information checking platforms .. Iron Dome" in the face of Israeli military propaganda."
In continuation of bias committed by a number of Western outlets with regard to Israeli narrative, Al-Sahafa magazine addressed the issue of Arab journalists stationed in the West, did they give Palestine a stronger voice? Or were they hand-cuffed by editorial policies, in an article titled: "Supporting the truth or favoring administration... Arab journalists in the West and war on Gaza." Also, the issue contains an interview with journalist Adam Johnson of Intercept Website titled: " Importance of scientific criticism for Arab media coverage of Israeli war on Gaza". Also, this issue includes a special portrait signed by Walid al-Omari, chief of Aljazeera bureau in Palestine, about the "loyal" colleague of the profession in an article titled: "Wael Dahdouh... The Job of Palestine".
 
Among topics of this issue there is also a contribution from Sudan, where journalist Moaz Idris wrote about journalism in wartime and challenges that facing Sudanese journalists since the outbreak of war last April, and in the same context, Hossam Eddin Haidar wrote about hate speech and racism in the Sudanese media. At the same time, in honor of journalist John Pilger, Mohamed Zeidan wrote: “Voices of truth die too fast, more than it should be”.
At the end, the issue is sealed with an article by journalist Diana Zoelta: “Taboo of Journalism, Its fragility, that no one dares to expose”.
