AJMI boosts media presence skills in specialised diploma
AJMI – Doha
Al Jazeera Media Institute concluded its Media Presence Diploma for executive leaders from Nigeria last Thursday, with 15 trainees taking part in eighteen days of theoretical and practical training in communication and media presence skills.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Abdullah Al-Saeed, Training Manager at the Institute, said effective media presence is not limited to appearing in front of the camera, but starts with clarity of ideas, understanding the audience, crafting the right message and delivering it credibly and impactfully. He stressed that the real value of training lies in how participants apply what they have learned in their professional practice.
For his part, Ibomokumo-Ozubo Austin, speaking on behalf of the graduates, expressed the group’s appreciation for the training and guidance they received, noting that the diploma enabled them to gain new knowledge and skills and benefit from the trainers’ expertise, enhancing their readiness to deal with a range of professional and media situations.
The diploma covered several specialised modules, including mass communication, media strategy development, storytelling and writing skills, media performance, voice use and public speaking skills, and preparation for different media situations.
A group of experts and specialists delivered the programme, including Dr Ghassan Abu Hussein on mass communication, Dr Abdullah Joudat on media strategy development, trainer Ofelia Johnson on storytelling and writing skills, trainer Gente Retkweri on media performance, and Brian Orrell, who led sessions on voice use and public speaking skills, alongside journalist Jassim Al-Azzawi, who trained participants on on-screen media appearance.
At the end of the ceremony, graduates were recognised and received their certificates after completing the diploma requirements and training programme, marking the progress they achieved in media presence skills and their professional applications.
