AJMI completed a course on “News coverage in conflict zones” in Beirut

As part of the Al Jazeera Ambassadors initiative, Al Jazeera Media Institute organized a course on “News coverage in conflict zones” in Beirut for 24 journalist trainees.

The course trained by trainer Ibrahim Saber where he dealt with the concept of career safety, journalistic safety and risks facing journalists in times of peace and war. He also focused on risk assessment and potential media threats and their impacts on journalists and how they should be prepared to respond to such risks. He emphasizes the importance of planning for personal safety before, during and after coverage in conflict zones in addition to ensuring necessary procedures for safe travel, safe transportation outside and inside coverage areas, dealing with security barriers/check points in times of peace and war. Ibrahim also introduced them to legal frameworks and rules for protecting journalists.

This course came in the framework of “Media for Development” initiative adopted by the Institute towards journalists in Arab Region and the world at large.
