AJMI launches Digital Media Diploma of more than 350 training hours

Al Jazeera Media Institute is launching, for the second year in a row, Digital Media Diploma on June 15th. for five consecutive months based on a blended learning system, that balances self-learning with direct interactive learning, with the aim of preparing a generation of journalists and digital content creators who possess skills, professional awareness and ability to deal with current time tools.

Diploma program consists of nine integrated educational courses, concluded by practical graduation project as a prerequisite for qualifying each trainee for his graduation certificate. Throughout each course, participants undergo intensive two-week training, combining self-study of educational videos, reading lessons, interactive live Zoom meetings and discussion sessions that promote critical thinking and deep understanding.

Diploma training program consists of more than 350 hours, including more than 20 hours of self-learning for each course, more than 150 hours of face-to-face meetings, six meetings for each course, in addition to more than 180 hours of discussion forums held on "Pisa" Platform, where trainers managed discussion of trainees on practical and controversial issues derived from content of each course.

Each training course will be based on two practical assignments, where the trainer has to evaluate these assignments and to provide his feedback in sessions dedicated for this purpose via Zoom. At the end of each course, trainees will undergo cognitive and skill impact tests to evaluate trainees benefit from training content.

Diploma program will begin with an introductory meeting between trainers, academic supervisor and trainees to explain, in details, the nature of courses, evaluation mechanisms and participation, then a special meeting will be held before graduation projects to guide and introduce trainees to proposed areas of projects and mechanisms required to implement each project.

Actual participation in three educational activities of self-learning, face-to-face meetings and discussion forums – is mandatory, and graduation certificate is only granted after passing all nine courses and submitting graduation project on time.

The diploma program consists of the following courses: Mobile digital story production, Specialized writing for communication platforms, Interpretive storytelling, using artificial intelligence in content production, open source investigations, data narration, podcast production, platform management strategies and ethical dimensions in digital journalism.

These courses will be supervised and led by a number of Al Jazeera Media Network trainers, most notably: Abdullah Al-Shehaimi, Tasneem Dahab, Ezzat Wagdy, Zainab Al-Hajj, Dr. Arwa Al-Kaali, Hassan Khudari, Abdul Karim Awir, Lina Mashaal, and Mohammed Khamaysa. Given that each course will host an expert or one of the famous faces of the network in an open meeting with trainees to enrich their educational experience.

This diploma targets experienced journalists who want to keep pace with digital transformation, content creators looking to develop their professional tools, in addition to students and those interested in understanding principles of digital media according to a modern practical vision.

The diploma is offered in Arabic language and enrollment is limited to a definite number to ensure the highest degree of interaction and providing enough time for individual assessment at each stage of learning.
