AJMI – Doha
Al Jazeera Media Institute is set to launch its new program, “War Correspondent,” a specialized program that sheds light on the nature of journalistic work in war zones and conflict areas, providing a comprehensive professional approach to challenges of field reporting in high-risk environments.
The program explores various dimensions of a war correspondent’s role, beginning with understanding his pivotal role in the field, his professional tools, preparation for interviews and report writing techniques, risk management, safety procedures and the ethical considerations of journalistic work in conflict settings. It also addresses issues of protecting sources and information, safeguarding visual materials, and coping with psychological stress and trauma that correspondents may face when returning from war coverage.
Delivered by media expert Biba Ould Amahadi, “War Correspondent” program aims to equip reporters with essential skills required to operate efficiently and responsibly in conflict zones.
The program adopts a structured approach that balances between pursuit of breaking news and priority of safety, while upholding professional standards and ethical commitment.
Launching this program reflects the commitment of the Institute to developing high-quality training content that responds to rapid transformations in media work environments. It further promotes a culture of safety and responsibility in field coverage, contributing to consolidating professional standards that protect journalists and serve public’s right for information.
