AJMI Training Department Concludes a Course on AI Ethics in Newsrooms

The Training Department at Al Jazeera Media Institute conducted a special course for the employees of Al Jazeera Media Network, held for the first time in collaboration with the British Thomson Foundation, titled: "Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Newsrooms".

Eleven employees from various sectors of Al Jazeera Network joined the course and benefitted from its theoretical and practical framework. The program delved into the current landscape of AI use in journalism, considering its rapid evolution. It also explored the diverse methods of AI utilization by news institutions worldwide, and furthermore, the ethical implications arising from the use of these emerging tools.

During this course, participants acquired the skill of developing plans or policies concerning the use of artificial intelligence, ensuring the protection of the values upon which their brand stands.

Participants praised the course content, appreciating Al Jazeera Media Institute's initiative to raise awareness about the importance of using new technologies in journalism while ensuring the preservation of fundamental ethical values and credibility in journalistic work.
