AJMI Workshops at Doha Book Fair 2025: A Model for an Integrated Media Training System

In this context, Dr. Ibrahim Mansour, coordinator of Institute's workshops at the fair, confirms that these courses are distinguished by their intended integration that supports the training philosophy of the Institute. He added: "These workshops represent a mini-package that embodies the integrated model adopted by the Institute in preparing journalists, from developing tools of expression, enhancing narrative and investigation skills, building of professional awareness, understanding work ethics up to use of modern techniques, editing and auditing."

 

workshops were divided into five main areas, starting by “creative writing workshop”, led by trainer Raghda Jamal, who focused on transforming human experiences into vibrant media texts. Then, “journalistic narration workshop” led by trainer Muhammad Ahdad, who dealt with methods of conveying information with depth and creativity, emphasizing the role of a journalist as a narrator of reality and not just a news carrier.

Then, trainer Mohammed Khamaisa presented “Exposing media manipulation during wars” workshop, where he shed light on responsibility of journalists in confronting disinformation, and the need for adopting and adhering to ethical standards.

Also, trainer Jana Al-Muslimani presented a workshop on “content production using artificial intelligence”, where she stressed importance of balance when using technology and importance of always maintaining journalistic and professional sense.

This training series was ended by “editing and proofreading” workshop which presented by trainer Ahmed Tahseen, stressed importance of language integrity and accuracy as main factors of media credibility, and text quality as a vital prerequisite for an idea to reach the public.

The Institute's pavilion at the fair witnessed a huge audience interaction, as visitors expressed interest in professional publications and guides provided by the Institute, especially in the fields of editing and TV presentation. Also face to face workshops provided an opportunity for effective communication with the public, exchanging experience and discussing reality of the journalism profession and challenges associated with it.

These workshops embodied Al Jazeera Institute's vision to build an integrated training system that combines creative and technical skills, professional and ethical understanding in order to enhance media stance in serving societies.
