AL JAZEERA CONFERENCE ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND MEDIA CONCLUDES

Al Jazeera Media Institute concluded on Monday, March 13, the sessions of the Artificial Intelligence in Media Conference, with the participation of a group of specialists in artificial intelligence, media workers and academia.
The opening, the first, and third sessions were moderated by Rawaa Auge, with the participation of the robot "Pepper" and the institute's artificial intelligence presenter "Ibtikar".
The second session was moderated by Jamal Al-Shayal, Manager of Content Strategy of the Digital Division.
In her speech, Eman Al Amri, Director of Al Jazeera Media Institute, stressed the role that artificial intelligence can play in the media. She also underscored the importance of the initiative in creating awareness of this technology and ensuring its commitment to the ethics of journalistic work.
In a keynote session, Dr. Yasser Bishr, co-founder of the Rising Tide Fund in the United States, spoke about the status of Arabic content in artificial intelligence education, and how various human biases in machine learning can be avoided.
He pointed to the danger of newsrooms relying on artificial intelligence in its current state. The technology is still in the process of learning and development. Care must be taken to build appropriate learning models for what reaches this machine, as it depends on the data it provides.
The first session was entitled, Applications of Artificial Intelligence in the Media: Opportunities and Challenges, while the second session was entitled, Artificial Intelligence: Knowledge Economy and Media Work Ethics, and the third session was entitled, Arab Media in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.
The conference saw the screening of a documentary film dealing with artificial intelligence that presents Al Jazeera as an example.
The Institute concluded the conference with a workshop entitled Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity Workshop, with the active participation of the trainees, whose number reached about a hundred.
