Al Jazeera Media Institute opens registration for Field Media Diploma

AJMI - Doha

Every compelling media story begins in the field, where a journalist engages directly with people and events, his professional transformation of what he witnessed into meaningful narratives is what resonates with audiences. For those seeking to master tools of field reporting and sharpen their skills, Al Jazeera Media Institute has opened enrollment for its evening Field Media Diploma, running from 7 November to 10 December 2026.

The diploma aims to enable participants to understand distinctions between field reports, documentary program, human-centered story (Feature) and documentary film, and how to choose the most suitable storytelling approach for each format. The program will also help them explore the relationship between reality and creativity, and how visual language and writing for the screen can be harnessed to shape compelling content. The program covers every stage of production, from research, defining the editorial message, developing story treatments and coordinating with production team, to planning shoots, conducting interviews and applying field production techniques.

Participants will also learn how to craft a story, make effective use of image and sound, and applying editing techniques. The diploma is designed for media students and university graduates, with preference given to those with media-related qualifications and prior experience in journalism or documentary filmmaking.

The diploma is part of Al Jazeera Media Institute’s ongoing efforts to align professional training with demands of media practices and developing skilled media practitioners capable of turning real-life events and human experiences into polished content that deepens audience understanding while preserving accuracy and reality of stories they tell.
