Al Jazeera Media Institute Participates in Doha Global South Health Initiative

Al Jazeera Media Institute participated in the activities of Doha Initiative on Health Policy of Global South through a workshop held in partnership with Middle East Council for Global Affairs, from 14 to 15 October at Grand Sheraton Hotel in Doha.

The first day of the workshop began with a training session led by Dr. Osama Abu Al-Rob on strategic communication mechanisms during health crises and media role in boosting trust between health authorities and the public. On the second day, the Institute hosted at its headquarters 35 representatives from Ministries of Health in Global South countries, along with a group of representatives from international donor organizations, including Gates Foundation, UNICEF and World Health Organization.

The workshop, held under the title “Communication Strategies in Health Sector,” focused on developing media teams as a key element in promoting effective health communication. These skills contribute to building bridges of cooperation and exchanging expertise between health and media institutions, in order to achieve objectives of health message efficiently. Discussions also highlighted importance of change management and adaptation to digital transformations in health communication sector, as these are key pillars for success in addressing modern health challenges, which requires flexibility and rapid response to public needs while maintaining health messages quality and credibility.
