Aljazeera Ambassadors organizes a course on Basics of digital journalistic writing for Sudanese journalists

Aljazeera Media Institute, in the framework of activities of Aljazeera Ambassadors Initiative, organized a three-days training course on basics of digital journalistic writing for a number of Sudanese journalists for the benefit of Nile Organization for Culture and Media.

The course, which held with the aim of supporting Sudanese journalists and developing their skills, was presented by Sudanese journalist Osman Kabashi, who focused on writing for digital journalism and use of social media as effective tools in writing news. He also addressed other various aspects related to modern digital newsroom in addition to news edit and news distribution through digital platforms.

The course included introductory visits to Aljazeera Media Institute and Aljazeera Net website, where journalists were briefed on media production processes and stages and technical requirements needed for each process or stage.

For their part, trainees praised the course, as trainee Mahmoud Madani, who works in the press, said that this course "represents a very rich experience as it provide us with new knowledge in the field of electronic journalism, and I learned how to deal with immediate public response and reactions through digital platforms, and I also acquired skills that improves work quality to achieve speedy publication and at the same time taking into account challenges related to accuracy and reliability.

Rania Ahmed, a TV reporter, said she joined digital journalism course because she believes in importance of keeping pace with media development in times of timely technical and editorial changes. "I was really impressed by the idea that a journalist or an editor must pay more attention to audience who are going to receive his media message and understands them and above that realizing importance of choosing the right pronunciation or edit for the right platform as well as choosing the right time to publish news".

Mr. Shaarawy Mohamed, Director of Media at Nile Organization for Culture and Media, explained that the organization is interested in developing skills of Sudanese media professionals, especially in light of the difficult circumstances that media in Sudan is going through amid this war. He pointed out that the suspension of a number of television channels in Sudan compels media employees to look for new opportunities. For this reason, cooperation with Aljazeera Media Institute through the Aljazeera Ambassadors initiative came as an opportunity that cannot be bypassed for developing journalistic tools and keeping pace with modern changes that could be positively utilized in favor of news objectivity and credibility. He stressed that the organization seeks to continue cooperation with the Aljazeera Media Institute and Aljazeera Ambassadors Initiative to hold more courses in recent future.

It is noteworthy that this course comes as one of Aljazeera Media Institute initiatives seeking to develop skills of media professionals in various Arab countries, and enhancing their capabilities to keep pace with technical and editorial developments in the media.
