The Institute hosts workshop on “Effective partnerships between Organizations and Media”, under the umbrella of Al Jazeera Ambassadors’ Initiative
AJMI – Doha
As part of “Al Jazeera Ambassadors” initiative, Al Jazeera Media Institute organized a remote training workshop exploring cooperation between non-governmental organizations and media outlets. The workshop brought together 16 participants working in non-profit sector and was delivered by trainer Raghda Jamal.
The workshop, “Effective partnerships between Organizations and Media,” examined how media institutions operate and how NGOs can build strategic relationships with journalists and newsrooms to ensure their stories reach audiences in a professional and impactful way. The workshop was built around the idea that every humanitarian project carries a compelling story worth telling, yet such stories require careful reframing depending on target audience, whether donors, grant providers, or media platforms.
Throughout the workshop, participants learned how to transform fieldwork into integrated media content that combines human dimension, data, and journalistic perspective. The sessions covered several key themes, including crafting media narratives tailored to different audiences, understanding needs and requirements of newsrooms and media platforms, building sustainable relationships with local journalists based on trust and continuous communication, and developing opportunities for media collaboration in the fields of television reports and documentary filmmaking. In addition to understanding ways of dealing with media challenges and crises in digital age.
The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of investing in partnerships between non-governmental organizations and media institutions as a gateway to amplifying impact of humanitarian initiatives and ensuring that meaningful stories gain the due attention in both local and international media spaces.
