Among the list of modern programs of Al Jazeera Media Institute, that was launched earlier this year, comes an Investigative program production course which designed specifically for media professionals and television content creators who have practical experience and interested in enhancing their skills and developing their knowledge in this vital field.

The course will be in English language and is held in response to the need of media market in order to strengthen research and investigative skills, and to produce programs capable of putting truth in front of the public and to open sensitive files with high professionalism and clear ethical responsibility.

The course will be held from twenty-seventh to thirty-first of July, and will focus on practical aspects, in addition to providing participants with the latest tools and techniques adopted for research, planning and production of documentary programs. Trainees will learn how to discover complex stories, verify information and how to process that information in a professional and effective manner, taking into account the legal and ethical considerations that govern investigative work.

Prior work experience in media or television production is the sole condition to enroll to this course, in order to ensure that participants are capable of getting the maximum benefit of its content.

Throughout the course, participants will dive into the world of investigative journalism, starting with key concepts, their importance and development, in addition to mechanisms of developing research ideas, developing hypotheses and systematic planning of episodes production.

Trainees will also learn methods of documenting evidence, secrets of conducting interviews with various sources and required journalistic confrontation methods. The course will also devote a significant space to investigative product quality control and responsible awareness for legal and ethical aspects, with the aim to enhance media professionals’ capabilities to produce reliable and impactful investigative content that questions influential people and conveys truth to the public professionally and courageously.

By the end of the course, participants will obtain the ability to produce high-quality investigative programs that combine a journalistic sense with solid narrative structure that fulfills ethical and professional commitments, and thus enabling them to develop their own production to create a real difference in media landscape.
