Registration opens for third edition of Al Jazeera Digital Media Diploma

AJMI – Doha
Al Jazeera Media Institute’s e-learning platform has announced the opening of registration for the third edition of Al Jazeera’s Digital Media Diploma. The current edition offers a four month learning journey, comprising seven courses in addition to a final graduation project.
The first course, “Mobile phone: a tool for digital journalistic storytelling”, explores how to use the smartphone to produce inspiring journalistic stories – from filming and conducting interviews through to editing and publishing.
The second course, titled “Digital story lab: between human creativity and artificial intelligence”, will enable trainees to discover the potential of artificial intelligence in developing ideas and producing digital content, while introducing the principles of using AI tools in a professional and ethical way.
The third course, “Explanatory stories: how to explain complexity with simplicity”, focuses on skills for simplifying information and complex topics, and turning them into clear, engaging stories that help audiences understand.
The fourth course, “Platform language: how do you write for social media audiences?”, provides interactive writing tools for different social media platforms, taking into account the nature of each platform and the characteristics of its audience.
The fifth course, “From idea to publication: podcasting as an industry”, covers the stages of producing podcast content – from developing the idea and preparing content, through recording and post production, to publishing and reaching audiences.
The sixth course, “The digital investigator: how do you build your evidence from open sources?”, introduces participants to the basics of research and verification, and how to draw on open sources in constructing evidence based digital stories and investigations.
The seventh course, “How do you manage your digital presence? Building platform strategies”, focuses on planning digital presence, managing platforms and building strategies aligned with institutional goals and audience needs.
Participants conclude their diploma journey with practical graduation projects, applying the skills acquired in the seven courses by producing either a digital explanatory story or podcast/vodcast content.
The diploma combines self paced learning with live training and includes a variety of learning activities distributed across all courses (recorded lessons in the form of instructional videos, discussion forums, practical assignments and impact assessment tests).
