Aljazeera Media Institute continues to provide, through its Ambassadors’ Initiative, quality training programs with the aim of developing media competencies and enhancing their professional presence. In this context, the Institute held at its headquarters in Doha a specialized course in television presentation for 12 trainees from “Education Above All Foundation”. The course was supervised and trained by trainer Mohamed Shabrawi and lasted for 15 hours.

Trainees expressed their great appreciation for training quality and value, stressing that it contributed to developing their basic skills for good appearance in front of the camera and how to produce professional TV interviews. They also pointed out that the course helped them to discover aspects that need to be strengthened, especially with regard to confidence when performing in front of camera and proper use of media terminology.

Coach Mohamed Shabrawi said: "Throughout the course, trainees learned about the nature of television work and the tasks of the technical team inside the studio, in addition to basics of appearing in front of the camera, practicing news bulletins preparation and recording. He added that, we focused on developing television interview skills, specially how a presenter deals with a guest, such as preparing “must be asked” questions and convincing guests, necessary methods for dealing professionally with various personalities and importance of language in media dialogue.

The course also addressed risks of communicating with guests outside studio, ways to avoid pitfalls and quick wit to adjust rhythm of dialogue, in addition to encouraging team harmony and understanding instructions of the director and common technical language.
The course ended with a discussion of methods necessary for trainees’ continuous professional development and reviewing real situations faced by presenters during live broadcasting and how to overcome them.
