Bio

Dareen Abughaida is a principal presenter at Al Jazeera English, with extensive international experience delivering news bulletins, television programs, and digital shows for the network. She has covered some of the world’s major news events, including the war on Gaza, the war in Ukraine, Brexit, the death of Muhammad Ali, the resignation of Pope Benedict, and the Malaysia Airlines crash MH370. In 2024, her interview on the war on Gaza for Al Jazeera’s program “Talk to Al Jazeera” earned an award at the Telly Awards, which honor excellence in video and television. Dareen also moderates panel discussions and hosts high-profile global events, including those for Qatar Foundation, the Doha Forum, the United Nations, the World Bank, the Global Media Summit, and the International Press Institute. Her experience additionally includes voice-over work for feature documentaries and short promotional films.
