Bio

Sameer Semreen is a senior presenter at Al Jazeera, delivering news bulletins in sign language. He joined the network in 2002 and has contributed to conveying global and Arab events to the channel’s deaf audience, including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the Arab revolutions. Samir has represented Al Jazeera Media Network at several forums specializing in disability media and is a certified expert with various Arab and international organizations.

Experience

- Senior Presenter at Al Jazeera Media Network – (2002 – Present). - Creator and Author of the “Sukoon” Arabic Sign Language App for the League of Arab States and the Ministry of Social Development and Family, Qatar – (2024). - Lead Expert and General Coordinator of the Unified Arabic Sign Language Workshop – (2005 – 2019). - Creator and Author of the Global Geographic Dictionary of Country and City Names in Sign Language – (2004). - Lead Expert and General Rapporteur of the workshops for producing the Arabic Sign Language Dictionary at the League of Arab States, the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science, and the Arab Federation of the Deaf – (2000). - Compiler of the Omani Sign Language Dictionary commissioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs – (1999). - Contributor to the preparation of the Jordanian Sign Language Dictionary – (1991).
