Course Description
The TV Report Production course aims to equip participants with the essential skills needed to produce professional media reports—from selecting the idea, conducting research and preparation, and developing visual writing and TV script-writing skills, to filming, editing, and constructing a cohesive visual narrative. During the course, trainees will learn about the different types of television reports and will practically apply the steps for preparing and producing a short report that reflects their ability to integrate content, visuals, and sound in a comprehensive manner.
Course Objective
By the end of this course, participants will:
• Identify the types of television reports and compare them with other journalistic forms.
• Develop a fully structured report idea through proper preparation, angle formulation, and scenario building.
• Employ visuals and sound in television storytelling.
• Apply field execution skills for producing television reports.
Course Outline
• Introduction to TV reports:
- Definition of a TV report and its role in media work.
- Functions and types of reports (news, analytical, human-interest, field-based, etc.).
- Differences between television reports and other journalistic formats.
• Stages of building a TV report (from idea to scenario):
- Select the idea and define the appropriate angle.
- Pre-preparation: field and documentary research.
- Identify narrative scenes and scenario-writing skills.
- Stages and techniques of building the report.
• Visual and audio storytelling in TV reports:
- Visual composition and the narrative function of images.
- Aesthetic and symbolic visual rules.
- Writing for TV and its alignment with visuals.
- Voice-over and script narration.
• Tools for executing a TV report:
- Interviews, their techniques, and how to select guests.
- Handle special cases and sensitive or problematic issues.
- Edit and build the visual narrative.
- On-camera performance and how to incorporate them into the report.
