Course Description
"The ear sometimes loves before the eye," this saying by the Abbasid poet Bishr ibn Bard emphasizes the importance of radio in the realm of communication. Contrary to expectations, this importance has been maintained despite the recent advancements in digital communication methods that have emerged worldwide.
Wars and natural disasters have proven that radio remains the most discreet, cost-effective, and flexible medium in such situations. It also allows listeners to engage in other activities while tuning in.
In our digital age today, radio has transitioned to new platforms such as the internet and mobile phones, and their numbers have significantly increased in recent times. This has led to a growing demand for radio professionals working in both preparation and presentation.
Course Objective
By the end of this course, participants will:
• Write professional radio scripts.
• Develop voice control skills.
• Organize and conduct successful radio interviews.
• Prepare and produce radio programs effectively.
Course Outline
• Characteristics of radio writing:
- Writing for ear: language and style.
- Structure of radio news story.
- Drafting a radio text from news agencies, press articles and interviews.
- Headings creation, introductions and link texts.
• Importance of voice in radio work:
- Voice features, characteristics and its impact on the listener.
- Voice control and synchronization to music.
- Communication methods between broadcaster and sound engineer.
• Basics of radio interviews:
- Basic principles that control radio interviews.
- Stages of preparing and conducting radio interviews.
- Building the radio interview and editing it.
• Program set up and execution:
- Preparing the program schedule and get ready to enter the studio.
- Behaviors to follow during the program.
- Preparing and executing short programs, discussing and correcting them.
