Course Description
TV presenting is not limited to appearing on camera; it is the art of presence, rhythm, and the ability to capture the viewer’s attention from the very first moment. A successful TV presenter combines balanced performance, vocal control, effective body language, and strong editorial awareness of their professional role and responsibilities.
Course Objective
By the end of this course, participants will:
• Identify the principles and fundamentals of TV presenting.
• Understand the key qualities and competencies of a successful TV presenter.
• Apply presenting skills across different television environments.
• Enhance editorial awareness of the presenter’s role and professional responsibility.
• Deal professionally with live broadcasting and the pressures associated with it.
Course Outline
• Introduction to TV work:
- Understand the studio environment and the newsroom.
- The presenter’s relationship with editorial and technical teams.
- The difference between the presenter as a content deliverer and as a discussion moderator.
• Qualities of a TV presenter:
- On-camera presence and charisma.
- Control of voice, tone, and rhythm.
- Calmness, quick thinking, and focus.
- Manage pressure and live broadcasting situations.
• TV presenting skills:
- Language accuracy and clear expression.
- Time management during presentation.
- Control of body language and readiness for unexpected situations.
- Work with the autocue and earpiece, and coordinate with the director.
• Editorial awareness and professional responsibility:
- The presenter’s role within the institution’s editorial line.
- Ethics of presenting and accountability to the audience.
- Handle sensitive and breaking news professionally.
