Al Jazeera Media Institute is launching this year its first blended training course under the title “Artificial Intelligence in Media,” scheduled to take place from May 3rd. to May 5th. The course falls under the newly introduced category of “Blended training programs”, developed in response to the rapid transformations in the media industry and the growing need of journalists and media professionals for mastering AI tools along with their professional and ethical applications.

It also provides insight into ethical considerations associated with these technologies, while exploring AI concepts and their various applications within media work environments.

This course is delivered in a blended format that combines in-person attendance with online learning to offer participants a comprehensive understanding of how artificial intelligence is reshaping content production. Today, AI technologies have become an integral part of editing, production, fact-checking, and audience personalization system, making it essential for media institutions to adopt best professional practices in utilizing these tools.

The course covers key themes including an introduction to AI in media, as a concept and evolution, as well as its most prominent applications in media industry, with particular focus on its impact in newsrooms and editorial environments. It also features a practical component introducing participants to AI-powered content creation tools, such as prompt writing techniques, creative text and idea generation, AI-based video and audio production, in addition to translation, summarization, and verification tools.

The program also addresses challenges and ethical dimensions surrounding these technologies, from issues of credibility and misinformation to intellectual property rights and data protection, culminating in responsible AI usage standards that ensure these tools serve the profession and strengthen audience trust in media content.

This course aligns with the strategy of Al Jazeera Media Institute to leverage artificial intelligence in support of balanced, professional media. It positions technology as a means to enhance accuracy, depth, and storytelling quality, rather than a substitute for journalistic sense and editorial responsibility. It also contributes to preparing media professionals who can utilize these technologies with critical and ethical awareness, reinforcing knowledge credibility while preserving professional values.
