60 trainees completed courses in AI data stories in Istanbul

Media for Development initiative of Aljazeera Media Institute, completed three specialized training courses on AI-enhanced data stories for sixty trainees, in total, in Istanbul, including twenty-five journalists in partnership with Tafned initiative.
The program, which was trained by Hussam Al-Wakeel, was distinguished by providing practical knowledge and skills on the latest artificial intelligence technologies in the field of data journalism. Participants were introduced to advanced means and search engines to search for data, in addition to mastering data scraping skills using various tools such as Data Miner and API, as well as data analysis and data verification tools, and how to visually represent such data through programs such as extended tables (Excel), Data Envelope (Data Rapper), and Flurush.
Trainees confirmed their great benefit from training, noting that they acquired new ways to formulate hypotheses and research questions, create coherent journalistic stories based on data, in addition to the ability to collecting data from various sources, build a reference map using artificial intelligence and above that cleaning and analyzing data to produce accurate and reliable results.
Media for Development initiative is created to keep pace with aspirations of Aljazeera Media Network, and its belief in the right of the public to access information, and accordingly using this initiative as a tool to enhance the role of media in serving communities and contributing to changing people life for the better.
