AJMI issues Investigative Handbook

Al Jazeera Media Institute issued an investigative handbook to guide journalists on the proper way of covering investigative journalism content. This handbook provides the tools of how to research, to report, to investigate, and to think objectively.

The Handbook comes in two languages, in Arabic and in English and consists of eight sections. It addresses the basics of Arabic journalism which is a different dynamic than international journalism. It not only revolves around surveilling Qatar and its community; it also provides tips on obtaining information from open sources.

The Handbook also consists of introduction to investigative journalism as a genre to surveilling authority and explains the difference between investigative journalism in the Arab world and in other parts of the world. It demonstrates on the choice of investigative story angles to pursue and explains how to report and provide supporting evidence.

The Handbook also highlights ways of conducting investigative journalism in the digital age, focuses on how to produce investigative stories with supporting evidence and how to present them digitally, which helps guide investigative journalists.
