AJMI’S "LEARN ARABIC" PROGRAM LAUNCHES NEW COURSES

AJMI’ - Doha

The "Learn Arabic" program at the Al Jazeera Media Institute has launched its new package of courses starting last December, aiming to teach the Arabic language to non-native speakers.

Participants in these courses include employees from the Al Jazeera Media Network and learners from various parts of the world, spanning more than 28 countries. The instruction is overseen by linguistics professors and experts, utilizing globally approved curricula. Upon successfully completing the exam and final oral interview, students receive a certified diploma from the Al Jazeera Media Institute.

The institute's specialized evaluation committee conducts assessment interviews after the registration process, based on the criteria set within the Common European Framework, with the goal of categorizing students into different language proficiency levels ranging from beginner to advanced. This ensures their placement in a level that corresponds to their current language skills.

This educational journey features a systematic curriculum for learning Arabic, starting from the introductory phase of familiarizing oneself with the alphabet and language basics, progressing through learning grammar and vocabulary, and culminating in linguistic proficiency that qualifies the student to engage in discussions on intellectual issues in the Arabic language.

In addition, the program includes a cultural aspect aiming to integrate students into the Arab cultural environment, enhancing their understanding of traditions and customs in Arabic-speaking societies. This contributes to forming a comprehensive understanding of the language and its cultural context.

These courses align with the Al Jazeera Media Institute's commitment to preserving the Arabic language as a vessel for Arab culture and a tool for Arab media. The institute aims to integrate non-Arabic-speaking Al Jazeera staff into Arab society, strengthening communication ties among them.
