AJMI is going to launch a course on Media discourse analysis next November

Al Jazeera Media Institute continues to offer specialized courses in order to develop skills of trainees and broadening their horizons in the field of media.

During the period from 17 to 19 November, the Institute will offer a course on "Media Discourse Analysis" supervised and led by trainer Dr. Mohammed Al-Ali.  This course focuses on enhancing participants' abilities of understanding media discourse concepts and applying media analysis tools to build and form effective and impactful discourses.

This course targets professionals holding a university degree in media and have practical experience in media field. It sheds light on how media influences formation of public opinion by deconstructing media discourse into its basic elements, in addition to focusing on different types of discourses and required tools for analyzing such discourses in depth.

The course covers several themes such as, an introduction to media discourse analysis, discourse deconstruction, understanding media discourse importance among other types, analyzing media texts in their temporal and political context. Moreover, the course is rich of practical exercises to enable participants practicing critical analysis on diverse media content, enhancing their skills in building and evaluating media discourses in depth.

This program is part of a series of courses organized by the Institute to meet the needs of trainees in various aspects of media supervised by specialized experts to ensure that these courses include a large percentage of practical exercises to help participants achieve practical understanding and advanced applied skills.

It is worth noting that the trainer, Dr. Mohammed Al-Ali, supervisor of Careful Journalism Unit at " Al Jazeera Net", has extensive experience of more than two decades in media and training, and has previously held various positions in several major media institutions.
