Al Jazeera Media Institute issued the 30th edition of Al-Sahafa magazine to consolidate free journalism contribution, where many writers from different Arab countries contributed to this editon.

In this edition, Omani journalist and researcher, Sumaya Al-Yaqoubi, discussed the tendency of major and international press institutions to rely on independent journalists, and the status of the journalist in the global economy system in an article: "How the economies of independent work shrink in Arab media institutions." While the Palestinian journalist, Linda Shalash, gave a detailed definition of the concept of "freelancing" and challenges, opportunities and sacrifices associated with freelancing.

Relating to Arab experiences in dealing with freelancer journalists, journalist Magda Ait Lektaoui wrote about the conditions of "freelancers" in Morocco under the presence of the “National Coordination of Free Journalists”. Badia Al-Sawan and Imad Al-Madouli highlighted the experiences of Jordan and Lebanon on freelancing in an article "Freelancers... Arab experiences in facing old guards".

On the other hand Lebanese journalist Jana Al-Duhaibi moves in depth to recount stories of three journalists of different fields who decided to work independently.

In the rest of the topics, journalist Mohamed Mirghani from Sudan reveals the details of his flee from Sudan after being targeted by both parties of the conflict. Mexican journalist Beatriz Pereira sheds light on her experience in sports investigative journalism and her ability to expose corrupt practices. While journalist Nahla Momini put forward a number of questions about ethical and professional standards in her article "The boundaries between Media rights and privacy rights".

The Tunisian journalist Nour Faris reflects in his story “Mrs F.M”, a media experience defending human rights where a Tunisian radio station concerned with human rights issue tries to provide a platform for classes who have no platform in media outlets.

As to journalism in times of artificial intelligence, Japanese journalist Mi Shigenobo discusses the possibility of compensating for the human aspect in stories and journalistic works written using artificial intelligence applications.

Also Syrian journalist Abdul Latif Haj Mohammed presents a “reading in a book” about journalist Wallraf, who is famous for his "plagiarism" for achieving justice, in Germany.
