AJMI launches its first courses in Syria

The Al Jazeera Ambassadors Initiative of Al Jazeera Media Institute has successfully conducted its inaugural training program in Syria, titled "Digital Journalism Storytelling." Led by Oqba Al-Rommah, a renowned producer and presenter on the Atheer platform, the course saw the active participation of 20 aspiring journalists.

Amidst the training program, the institute organized a meeting with Syrian journalists to introduce its diverse range of programs and initiatives. Additionally, the meeting served as an opportunity to discuss the training needs and priorities of journalists in the present circumstances. The guests included Montaser Marai, the Manager of Media Initiatives at the institute, Khadija Bengana, Al Jazeera media personality, and Adham Abu Al-Hussam, the correspondent for Al Jazeera in Syria.

To conclude its activities, the institute held an informative gathering with students from the College of Media at Damascus University. The session aimed to shed light on the educational opportunities available to students and the training resources at their disposal. Furthermore, the meeting fostered discussions on potential future collaborations in the field of media training.

The Al Jazeera Ambassadors Initiative, committed to supporting and advancing digital journalism in Syria, strives to empower journalists and students by providing them with the necessary training to keep pace with the ever-evolving technological landscape in the media sphere. Additionally, the initiative seeks to cultivate a new generation of journalists proficient in utilizing contemporary digital technologies to faithfully portray events, thereby reinforcing press freedom and enhancing public awareness.​
