AJMi PARTICIPATES IN GLOBAL INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM CONFERENCE

Al Jazeera Media Institute, participated in the Global Investigative Journalism Conference​ held in Gothenburg, Sweden from September 19 to 22, 2023.

During the conference, the AJMI organized a panel discussion to highlight the efforts made by the institute and the network in supporting and advancing knowledge related to investigative journalism, as well as various other forms of media work.

The meeting was attended by approximately 80 participants from international organizations and non-governmental organizations involved in media development, in addition to Arab and foreign journalists.

They were briefed on a detailed overview of the institute's activities related to training courses, knowledge content production, and support for media initiatives aimed at serving local communities.

Ahmed Abu Hamad presented an overview of the Jazeera Ambassadors initiative, journalism Review, evidence and book production, e-learning, media for development, and Jazeera Fellowship to the attendees.

On his part, Phil Rees, the director of the Al Jazeera Investigative​ Unit, discussed investigative documentary production and the challenges faced by journalists working in this field during a session at the conference.

Rees showcased examples from the Al Jazeera Investigative Unit's experience, offering advice and guidance on optimal ways to produce high-quality investigative films and documentaries.

Approximately 2000 journalists and film producers from 120 countries participated in the 13th edition of the Global Investigative Journalism Conference. During its four days, the conference hosted over 200 sessions and panel discussions.
